Uganda's capital, Kampala, is located near the northern shore of Lake Victoria. Founded in 1890, the city's name comes from the word "impala" (a local species of antelope). Despite the fact that the city has a population of about a million, Kampala remains an open, welcoming and safe city with virtually no traffic jams and friendly and welcoming people.
Jinja
Jinja is a young city, founded in 1907. The city is one of the most popular cities in Uganda among foreign tourists due to its location on the shores of the picturesque Lake Victoria, just a few kilometers from the Nile River, which originates here. Many tourists come here just to see such an indescribable sight. Jinja received the status of a city only one century ago, before that there was a small fishing village on its territory, in which, due to its convenient location, trade flourished. Here the Nile is blocked by boulders, and the current is not strong, so fishermen could freely go to the other side of the river. Fishing is still thriving here, local residents will treat you to fish baked on coals.
